Sign the Petition to Make School Zones Safer for Students & Pedestrians

This petition has been signed 706 times.

Following the tragic death of sophomore Antwan Timbers Jr., Senator Diane Allen (R-Burlington) is working with students at Burlington City High School to enact legislation to make it safer for pedestrians in school zones across the state.

Route 130 consistenly ranks as one of the deadliest highways in the state for pedestrians.

Despite more than 1,000 students crossing the highway each day, the speed limit is reduced for just a few hours.

Allen is partnering with BCHS students on a '25 Save Lives' campaign to permanently lower the speed limit in school zones along Route 130, give other municipalities more control to enact safe speed limits near their schools, and increase penalities for drivers who are caught speeding in school zones.

You can show your support for this legislation to help keep students safe by signing the petition below.
